Student Internship Program


Internships are available in the Wilson office of the Clerk’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina during the fall semester for college for students at the college and community college level.  Student interns primarily assist in the operations department.  Duties include docketing proofs of claims, opening the mail and any projects that are ongoing during the time of the internship.

In order for the intern to gain an understanding of all court operations, job shadowing will be provided with the following court personnel:  Financial Specialist, Property and Procurement Administrator, Training Specialist, Administrative Specialist, Director of Information Technology and CM/ECF Analyst.  Additionally, the intern will attend creditors meetings and court hearings.

Applications should be submitted by July 1st in order for a decision to be made prior to the beginning of the fall semester.  If you are interested in an internship opportunity with the Clerk’s Office, U. Bankruptcy Orientation for Students

The U. S. Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of North Carolina offers an orientation program for students at the high school, community college and university levels interested in learning about bankruptcy.  The program consists of a site visit to the clerk’s office.  The clerk has offices in Wilson, NC and Raleigh, NC.  Students will be offered a tour of the court facilities and will meet with a court employee who will give a history of the court and answer general questions.  Additionally, students may attend a CM/ECF attorney training class to learn how to file documents electronically with the court, attend court hearings, creditors meetings and/or a Chapter 13 debtor education class.
